Team Member Spotlight! Meet Ella Mink

1. When did you find your Passion, or when did it find you?

I’ve always had a passion for the things I do. I think life is about making the most of every situation, no matter how small the moment is. Living life to the fullest and putting your all into the things you do as well as accomplishing your goals with passion is the key. My passion for birth work grew within me as I learned about the beauty of it all. Having my daughter pushed me to have more strength than I ever thought possible and I truly found myself in the process. It’s incredible how much motherhood has empowered me to do the ‘impossible’. Now I’m not saying being a parent is a cakewalk (it’s quite the opposite) but what I am saying is that every parent has the strength to do amazing things and I have found passion in supporting families while they uncover this power in their own ways in their own time.

2. If a kid walked up to you asking for your advice and you only had a few minutes to give ‘em   your best tip, what would it be?

Make your own choices and do what makes you happy. Unfortunately, there is so much negativity and hate in this world. It’s impossible to please everyone. If I listened every time someone told me I couldn’t do something I would be a very different person.Your self-worth isn’t defined by an approval rating so do what you love and know that this is your life.

3. What makes you proud of yourself?

I am proud of myself when I know I’ve made someone’s day better. I often get so wrapped up in working towards my own goals and doing my own duties/ chores that I forget to take breaks and simply enjoy other people. Knowing that what I have done is helping another person truly makes me proud.

4. What do you love about your life?

I love that I am able to live my life as I choose. I love my family. I love myself. I love all the amazing people in my life. I love nature, food, music. I’m thankful that I am able to see, walk, talk, and just enjoy being alive.

5. What did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was really little I wanted to be a vet. Then around 5th grade I wanted to be a teacher for children with disabilities. Once I was in high school, I wanted to work with kids either as a therapist, child psychologist or daycare owner. Now I am still in college and my goal is to become a certified nurse midwife and one day open my own birthing center.

6.  What are your top three values?

Compassion, happiness, honesty

7. How do you like to be told you’re doing a good job?

When someone goes out of their way to thank me or talks about how they appreciate me and the work I’ve done.

8. Who is your role model and why?

My role model is my boyfriend, Caleb. He has been the best father to our daughter and though I may nag him often for forgetting to do chores etc. I truly admire how much passion, determination and strength he carries with him as well as how self-assured he is throughout any situation.

10. If you had any superpower, what would it be?

I think about this question to myself quite often. I would love to have the ability to freeze time. Time flies so fast and to be able to freeze time and enjoy a moment for more than a single moment would be amazing. That and to be able to have more time in the day to get everything on my to-do list done.

11. How would you describe your (doula) style?

My doula style is friendly and supportive. I hope to not only make a client feel respected and relaxed but to feel loved as we grow a friendship.

12. Describe yourself in 5 words

Spreading love whenever I can
