Black History Month: Ruby Bridges Coloring Page

This Black History month we want to celebrate the men and women who pushed past adversity and systematic racism to rise above and change the world. We will be providing you with some free coloring book pages this month to help kickstart these important discussions with your kids.

Today we honor Ruby Bridges, the first Black child to attend an all white public school. She pushed past crowds of grown men and women screaming racist words at her every single day for a year just for an opportunity to an equal education. The white students from her class were pulled out by their parents, and teachers refused to teach her. She was the only student in her class being taught by the one teacher who supported her bravery.

Today Ruby is only 66 years old and she is still an advocate for Black rights.

We suggest diving deeper into her story and sharing her bravery and strength with your children. Here’s a link to an excellent resource from Read Like a Rock Star to help inspire discussion.

Happy coloring!
