Team Member Spotlight: Meet Cara Crowe!

Cara Crowe is a Birth and Postpartum Doula with Doulas of Capitol Hill since 2019.

  1. When did you find your Passion, or when did it find you?

My passion for supporting women, and couples through the birthing process found me after I gave birth to my first daughter in 1999. I was floored by the transformational process of pregnancy, birth and bonding as a parent of a new soul. I knew birthwork would be a path I could use my gifts to help others. In the past several years, now that my children are out of the baby phase, I have found great reward in nurturing families at home during the sensitive and joyous postpartum time. Cooking, cleaning, providing useful tips and emotional support during this time - feeding the soul of a new family is one of my passions and I'm grateful I get to call it my job!

2. What do you love about your life?

My path in this life has been about nurturing, empowering and healing through love...In the experience of raising my four children (ages 12-20), counseling through nutrition, herbs & healing modalities such as Reiki I have been blessed to express my gifts. Through teaching and practicing Yoga & Meditation, and finding adventure always in life, my soul is also fed and can help others in turn.

3. If a kid walked up to you asking for your advice and you only had a few minutes to give ‘em your best tip, what would it be?

My favorite mantra: Lokah Samastah Sukinoh Bavantu - "May all beings be happy, may all beings be safe, may all beings be at peace, may all beings be free. May my thoughts and actions contribute to the happiness, peace and freedom of all."

4. How would you describe your (doula) style?

My doula style has been shown to me as calm, empowering and nurturing.
